This project seeks to give adolescent girls and their mothers, both migrant and native in the host and home countries, a voice and an image. Women migrants are hardly heard of and seen in the integration debate, as where their issues are very different from men and they deserve a voice.
Historically photography and migration are linked ever since migrants treasured photo's of their loved ones at home. In this project both personal photo's and stories are collected from the girls and their mothers via personal contact and a social network site, then juxtaposed to my photographic and verbal interpretations, thus adding to the dialogue between all the different groups. A 'town-square' installation, a travelling exhibition and books will be the final result.
